SuperClean cleaner in 946ml spray bottle: product recall

TORONTO - February 19, 2010 – SuperClean spray cleaner in the 946ml bottle has been recalled by its Canadian distributor, Wakefield Canada Inc. The item can be identified as having part number 0801049 and UPC code: 07392601049. Though no incidents or injuries have been reported to date, consumers are being instructed to immediately stop using the recalled product and dispose of it as per Municipal Hazardous Waste Guidelines. For instructions on how to dispose, Consumers are being asked to contact their municipality or to contact Wakefield Canada Inc. at its customer hotline at 1-888-319-3549, visit the Wakefield Canada Inc website at Wakefieldcanada.ca or the Health Canada website.

The recall has been initiated as a result of product packaged prior to November 2009 being sold without a child resistant container. Health Canada deemed the product to be in violation of Section 4(2) of the Hazardous Products Act (HPA) and Section 47(b) of the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 (CCCR, 2001) as the product was classified as a corrosive product and was not contained in a child resistant container.

The recall only applies to product distributed in 946ml spray containers; product distributed in drums, 20 L containers, and 3.78 L containers are not being recalled.
